Brian McTear

Brian McTear is a musician, record producer, and the Executive Director of a Non-profit music organization called Weathervane Music (www.weathervanemusic.org) He was born in West Chester, PA in December of 1972, the fourth of seven children. As a toddler, his family learned he had Cystic Fibrosis, at which point he began treatment for the disease at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). His youngest sister also has CF. Since the age of 19, he has been a patient of the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the University of Pennsylvania’s Adult Cystic Fibrosis clinic at Presbyterian Hospital.
As a teenager, Brian was an active Windsurfer and aspiring Musician. He attended the Hill School, a private Boarding School in Pottstown, PA, and later West Chester University in Pennsylvania. From age 18 to 26 he played in a band called Mariner 9, and began to learn the art and science of music production and engineering, and co-founded Miner Street Recordings, what was then a humble home recording studio, but has since grown to be one of the most revered studios in the Philadelphia area.
He lives in Fishtown with his girlfriend and business partner, Amy Morrissey and their seven cats, Rainy, Quimby, Sheila, Olive, Evilo, Orango, and Greta.
